The Research and Production Firm Meridian JSC is one of the leading instrument-making enterprises of the Russian shipbuilding industry.
The company's history dates back to 1883. Since then, the firm became a multi-industry enterprise well-known on the world market.

The five main lines of research and development of the enterprise are the following:
- combat information and control systems (CICS) for surface ships;
- fire safety systems for surface ships, vessels and civil buildings;
- magnetic and electric fields compensation systems for surface ships and submarines;
- joint attack safety systems for surface ships;
- integrated ship control consoles.
So far, the investment programs have been implemented aimed to develop the new generation technical systems with revolutionary characteristics, competitive both in domestic and external markets, which ensured the high export potential of the enterprise and enabled it to become a reliable supplier for the fleets of several foreign countries. In particular, the advanced warships of India, China, Algeria etc. are equipped with control systems developed and manufactured by Meridian JSC. Among the recent developments of the enterprise, of special note is the CICS Trebovaniye-M – a high-efficient system of new generation, which embodies the latest achievements in the area of ship information systems. The Trebovanije-M CICS was highly appreciated by our foreign partners by the operation results.
It should be noted, that the export shipments of the enterprise became possible due to the wide rage (the diversity) of articles proposed to customers (shipyards or ship designers) and to the full range of services, i.e., the capability of the enterprise to manufacture and support its products during their whole life cycle: from draft proposal (research work) and working out design documentation to fabrication of the product, full testing, erection supervision work and after-sales service in site.
The high level and competitiveness of enterprise’s developments are achieved due to the unique technologies, automated production and high quality of the products.
The enterprise includes scientific-research, design and technological departments; it owns domestic production facilities, supporting the whole manufacturing cycle; domestic test base; adjustment, commissioning and service departments.

The branch of The Research and Production Firm Meridian JSC is the special engine test base.
In the 1970s the developers of enterprise had to create special testbed equipment in the area with low level of external electromagnetic fields for test works of measurement and electromagnetic field compensation systems for ships and vessels. Such place became the territory of Luga in Leningradskaya region.
For test works on the compliance with the requirements of Sea and River register, GOSTs for military equipment there were constructed and equipped with the appropriate equipment the laboratory tests building where the mechanical, climatic and
hydraulic test of the enterprise’s products are carried out. At present the laboratory tests building is modified into the Experimental center.
In the Experimental center there are carried out the equipment upgrade on new technology introduction on control, regulation and registration of parameters at the climatic and mechanical test carrying out with the help of digital devices. The stands are equipped for tests of APZ-028 and Kasatka automatic fire-fighting equipment system, Blokirovka mobile communication system, there are constructed and entered the service the stands for setting and tests of KEM compensation device.
In 1999 the test base was transformed into the enterprise branch that took place in the in-house cooperation and is able to solve successfully their part of tasks in constructing products supplied by the enterprise.
